On Sunday 30 November, St Salvator’s Chapel transformed into a live broadcast studio for two nationwide BBC radio programmes — Sunday Worship on BBC Radio 4 and Carols Across the Country on BBC Radio 3. The dual recordings in the medieval Chapel — dating back to 1413 — marked both St Andrew’s Day and the beginning of Advent, drawing together students, staff, and leading figures from across Scotland’s artistic and academic communities. The morning recording began early, with
601 felt more like Ally Pally on Saturday night. With a pair of lobsters, two men dressed in Lederhosen, and many more, everyone embraced the spirit of the darts. Alice Nicholson and her partner, the lobsters in question, deservedly won best dressed.
Men used to go to war. Now they fight for promotion to the top flight of the St Andrews Sunday League. I’d like to say there are bigger days in my calendar than the final matchday of the season, but there really aren’t. With DLL, Real Sosobad and the imperious BLFC all competing for the automatic promotion and play-off spots, it was time to see who would rise above the rest.
